Guest Bloggers
From time to time, I allow guests to post articles to Political Illiteracy. Unfortunately, this blog is too small to offer its writers fame and fortune, but you will get editorial feedback, and a link back to your blog.
The criteria I use to select these posts are subjective and ever-changing, but here are some pointers:
- Articles must be logic-driven, not emotion-driven.
- Any facts that are not your personal, first-hand experience should be cited. Controversial questions of fact should have multiple, reliable sources.
- Articles should be accessible. An engaged and curious person of reasonable intelligence should be able to understand your article regardless of their educational background (you can help with this by linking terms that may be unfamiliar to a relevant online reference).
- I tend to shy away from articles linking to registration-required sources. These are simply a nuisance.
- Articles must be written in clear and correct English. txtspk and 11735p34k are not English.
- I don't mind (and often encourage) points of view that oppose my own. However, I won't choose a substandard article just for the illusion of balance -- or just because it agrees with me, for that matter.
- I'll take a researched, well-founded, cogent argument in favor of colonizing Mars with genetically altered house cats over a series of ad hominem attacks, faulty logic, and emotional diatribe in favor of ending genocide.
- Be sure to include your email address, real name, the name you would like your article posted under (this should be your PoliticalIlliteracy.com user name if you have one), your blog URL (if you would like a link), and list any biases readers might like to know.
- Be prepared to wait a week or two for an answer. I try to go over submissions faster than that, but too often work, family, and life in general intervene, laying to waste the best of plans.
